The Northwest Cascade Chapter is a non-profit organization that is affiliated with the International Association of Central Service Materials Management (IAHCSMM). We are a 501c3 corporation, incorporated in the state of Oregon, for the purpose of providing educational opportunities to those who work in the field of healthcare central service and sterile processing.
The Chapter was formed from the vision of a group of local leaders of Sterile Processing departments who were all members of the international association, had attended the annual meetings of the international association, and wanted to bring the benefits of educational seminars to the workers in their respective departments. The Chapter was formed in 2007 and held it’s first seminar in March 2008.
Since that time, we have held at least two seminars each year in a variety of locations in Oregon. At these seminars, we have sought to find recognized experts in the field of sterile processing and have tried to cover a variety of topics of interest to our attendees. All of our presentations have been approved by both IAHCSMM and the Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution (CPSPD) so that individuals who are certified through either of those organizations can earn continuing education credits to maintain their certification.
Our hope is to continue our mission and find ways to expand our reach to all of those who work in Sterile Processing and Central Supply and related fields in Oregon, Southwest Washington, and Northern California.
